General InfoFactophile.com is published by Blackdog Media, a one-person company run by Stephane Theroux, in British Columbia, Canada. It consists of a collection of facts covering many topics with links to further resources. HistoryThis site was originally created in November 1997 as a personal site using the domain steph.net and consisted of approximately 100 pages of facts. The domain name was changed to swishweb.com in March 1998 (the word swishweb was made up and has no real meaning), with the collection of facts contained in a section of swishweb.com titled "Trivial Knowledge". The other sections of swishweb.com were "Define It!", an online english dictionary (discontinued in 1999) and "The Bookbin", an online collection of classic literature. The Bookbin was spun off as ClassicReader.com on March 29, 2000, which currently has a collection of over 2000 full-length classic works of literature. On July 20, 2000, the redesign and restructuring of swishweb.com was completed with the sole focus being a general collection of facts. The name of the site was once again changed on May 17, 2004 to the current name, along with a refocus on providing topical facts with links to further resources.
